Before my triathlon endeavours started I started out as a pure runner, gaining multiple national titles and medals. Being a runner meant lots of miles and because I was still young also meant lots of injuries; this was when the idea of cross training came to mind. Cycling for school had meant I already had a cycling base but my swimming was very weak. After working with triathlon legend Rick Wells my swimming has slowly started to come to shape with still plenty more space to improve.
I competed at the World Age Group Championships in 2012 at the age of 17 and that is where I found huge amounts of motivation to take things to the next level of becoming an elite athlete.
My goal is to qualify in the u23 Elite Triathlon team for world champs in Chicago in 2015. With steady improvements showing in each discipline I can see that my goal may be in reach. Over the next couple of months many long, hard miles will be put it to ensure my biggest dream will come true of representing NZ at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!
